One of the great joys I get out of playing M44 is teaching others and talking shop. I think that is true for most gamers. They like to talk about things they enjoy and share that with others. Some of our newer players have asked me if they have to buy expansion x or supplement y just to keep playing M44.
I say “work with what you got!”
While setting up our monthly play at Fair Game, I discovered an old cache of HO scale soldiers. I’m pretty sure the manufacturer is Airfix and I bought them nearly 30 years ago! Who knew I’d find use for them as I grew older.
While a bit smaller and lighter than the in-box M44 figs, these are very close and very playable with a bit of modification. Unlike some, I can’t quite bring myself to turn M44 into a minis game and go all out and paint and flock the figs. (Maybe one day)
However, I’m not above saving myself $20-$30 by not buying the next Days of Wonder product that I desperately want just to get additional figs. Using already owned figs, a bit of Gorilla Glue, and one copper penny each I had fully usable additions to my DOW figs.
